The Artist Says:

“As an artist and a Pastafarian, I deemed it necessary to heed the calling of his noodliness and commence work to bring His glory to the two dimensional surface.

“And I have used the principles of composition, of values, of line, and chromas, and I have painted pixels in his image. Blessed be the FSM for giving us the rules of composition!

“And I arranged the masses of light and dark, and behold, they pleased His noodly Eye. Blessed be the FSM for creating contrasts in value!

“And I cooked spaghetti for visual reference, and rendered His holy form, guided by His Noodly Appendage. And I have consumed the spaghetti, and rejuvenated by this holy communion, I placed the highlights upon his noodles. Blessed be the FSM for creating light and shadow, so that we could see our pasta!

“And I placed colours and pirate regalia upon the army of His deciples, and behold, I spent many a day putting details in their midst. Praised be the FSM for showing us the way, for to err is human, but to Arr is Pirate.

“R’amen brothers and sisters, may the image of His Noodliness please thy eye.”

“And a horrible storm shook and wobbled the mighty Pirate galleon, and all the pirates trembled in fear. But the brave and pious captain said upon them: ‘fe’Arr not me mateys! Tharr be rescue in the mighty FSM!’

“And there came a great wave, about to crush and sink the galleon, and the pirates trembled again. But the captain bellowed “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance his Noodly Appendage will bring you today!” And came his Noodly Appendage and rescued the Pirates, before the wave sunk the galleon, and His Noodly Appendage plucked them from the furious sea.

“And the Pirates said to the Lord: “Deliver us not unto land, to be marooned and without rum, but bring us unto a lonesome vessel, so that we may plunder.” And His Noodliness granted their wish, bringing forth a swift aerial abordage, and the Pirates plundered the booty and the wenches, and hung the Pirate Fish flag on the main mast.

“So fear not, my brethren and sistern, for the almighty FSM saves all that praise him. In the name of Noodle, Sauce and the Holy Parmesan.

“R’Amen.”

This preview doesn’t do the image justice–click the image for a full view of this amazing work of art.

Trevor Claxton is a professional concept artist and illustrator of various fantasy and science fiction projects, primarily games.

This particular gem was commissioned by RPG-creator Eclipse Phase for their Panopticon sourcebook; apparently, players have the option of playing an intelligent, air-breathing octopus–either as a genetic ‘uplift’ or as a synthetically-created cyborg.

I get to play a cyber octopus?  Sounds like an awesome RPG to me.

Another Panopticon octopus by Claxton previously featured here.
